Cuyamaca Library: Mission & Program Review


PLO 1: The student will demonstrate skills of constructing effective search strategies (i.e keyword, advanced, truncation).

How does this PLO 1 support Library Goal 1?
     Library goal #1: Library Instruction Program. Provide innovative library instruction to strengthen student information literacy skills. All Library PLOs relate to the goal of students becoming information literate upon completion of their academic goals
What are the expected outcomes?
Students will demonstrate necessary research skills in programs developed and delivered by instruction librarians. At least 75% of students assessed will demonstrate the ability to construct effective search strategies (use keyword, advanced search,quotes, truncation)

What Method of Assessment will you use to assess this PLO?
     Students will demonstrate this information literacy skill in programs developed by instruction librarians.
     MoA will vary depending on the following delivery methods of library instruction:
1. Library instruction survey or pre/post test or worksheet will be given to all students who attend a 1-2 hour library instruction session. 
2. Reference Instruction survey after a reference desk interview with librarian

How will you assess how well this goal was achieved (performance indicators)?
1. Library instruction survey or worksheets. Students will be able to find a source relevant to their topic.
2. Reference Instruction. Students who participate in library reference interview will demonstrate the ability to use keywords and/or advanced search techniques to find sources .
